Halo: Reach


Halo: Reach is an upcoming first-person shooter video game for the Xbox 360 developed by Bungie and published by Microsoft Game Studios. Halo: Reach will be released on September 14, 2010 in North America and in Japan on September 15, 2010. The game takes place in the year 2552, where humanity is locked in a war with the alien Covenant. The players control Noble 6, a member of an elite super-soldier squad, during a battle for the human world of Reach.

Need for Speed: World


Need for Speed: World, previously known as Need for Speed: World Online, is an upcoming video game from the long-running racing video game Need for Speed franchise. It is the first MMORPG in the Need for Speed series since Motor City Online (from 2001), exclusively for Microsoft Windows. It is scheduled to be released worldwide on July 20, 2010.

While it is free-to-play, EA (the publisher) has announced that the game will not be completely free. Once the player gets to a certain level, they will no longer be able to progress further in the game and they will cease to earn any more points. In order to continue the game, the player has to purchase the NFS World Starter Pack. Without it, the player is allowed to play the game for as long as he or she wants, but the game will not progress.

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions


Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions is an upcoming video game that blends together the many alternate universes of the world-famous webslinger with four unique takes on Spider-Man’s history in the comics. It will be released for Nintendo DS, PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360 on September 7, 2010.

Portal 2 slated for a 2011 release

Valve, the creators of some of the best-selling game franchises out there including Left 4 Dead, Counter-Strike, and Half-Life; and software such as Steam and the Source game engine, has announced Portal 2 which is slated for release in 2011 (not fall of 2010 as previously announced) for the Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and Xbox 360 platforms.

Portal 2 is the sequel to Portal (released in 2007), which has won over 70 industry achievement awards and over 30 Game of the Year awards.

Email statement from Valve:
June 9, 2010 — Aperture Science, doing business as Aperture Laboratories LLC, in partnership with Valve today announced the successful completion of an ethics-review-panel-supervised release date restructuring process. Portal 2, the sequel to the ground-breaking title that earned over 30 Game of the Year awards despite missing its original ship date, is now targeted for a 2011 release.

They also went on to mention that, “… the game will be even better.
