Real Iron Man – The Suit

Ok, by now you probably know that I like the movie Iron Man, but I still have not seen the second movie (how does that work?). So I assume that you probably know now that the title above is a bit misleading, but you really should keep reading…

War Machine

Iron Man Mark VI and War Machine
Iron Man MKV ('Suit case armor')

Anthony Le, a 25-year-old fitness consultant, prop maker, and budding filmmaker who currently resides in Colorado, was inspired by the first Iron Man film and knew he wanted to build his own Iron Man suit. He built the War Machine suit instead of the familiar Iron Man suit because he believed that “it just looks more hardcore”. He also built an advanced replica of the Mark VI that Tony Stark himself wears in Iron Man 2. The design of the Mark VI is similar to the War Machine suit, but it does not feature its own machine gun.

Iron Man

His first suit was more of a costume than his new suit (a version of the War Machine), which was made from materials from Wal-Mart and Home Depot—high-impact urethane, rivets, washers, and a servo motor for the faceplate which is activated from a button inside the chest-plate. He based his design of the War Machine on sketches and concepts of the suit (from the Iron Man 2 movie) that he found on the Internet since the movie had not been released in Theaters at the time that he built it. The rest of the suit was painted silver after it was completed. The helmet mold was made with clay, and the final product was made from a liquid resin mix. The eyes and chest-plate have working LEDs in them. The machine gun, which is mounted on the shoulder, is made from PVC pipes and other materials; it also has a motor and a belt drive which makes it spin much like the real thing at the push of a button (which is located inside one of his gloves). The machine gun could be easily modified to serve as a airsoft or paintball gun. The batteries that power the lights, motor, and servo are located inside the suit’s frame.

After a month and more than $4000 dollars later he had his own ‘War Machine’.

Check out this video of both Iron Man and War Machine (Anthony) fighting masses of invisible enemies.

He also has a zombie version of the War Machine suit.
